Initiatives
Breathe Easy Marshall County is supported by the Indiana Department of Health’s Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Commission.
Four Priority Areas Encompass Our Work
Decrease Youth Tobacco Use Rates
VOICE
Breathe Easy Marshall County recruits and mentors a core team of youth leaders to drive VOICE-branded initiatives across Marshall County. These students lead peer education on tobacco and vaping, build youth empowerment and engagement and spark community action that creates lasting, positive change.
Middle & High School Comprehensive Strategy
Breathe Easy Marshall County provides youth-focused tobacco and vaping education in local schools, equips staff with training, informs parent groups, and promotes non-punitive consequences that steer students toward support services.
Point of Sale Marketing
We teach how pricing and marketing tactics target teens and how retail displays shape behavior, and we use the Standardized Tobacco Assessment for Retail Settings (STARS) survey to track Marshall County’s point-of-sale environment.
Decrease Secondhand Smoke
Smoke-Free Communities
We champion countywide smoke-free air policies that keep every workplace free from secondhand and thirdhand smoke.
Smoke-Free Employers
Quit Now provides comprehensive tobacco cessation benefits, outlines how to adopt tobacco-free grounds and offers support through its Quit Now Employer Champions program. Employers can visit the QNI Champion Employer Enrollment page to learn more.
